School Ethos & Values
Every Child is Unique
We firmly believe in each unique child and have the utmost ambition for them to achieve highly. We see barriers as challenges to be overcome and work hard as a whole team with our families to ensure each and every child excels.
Our whole ethos is built around good relationships at all levels and we ensure that from the moment a child enters Littletown we create an unbroken line of quality and nurture. We care and we hope it shows to all who come into contact with our team.
We are strategic, driven and forward thinking but we also passionately take note of the little things, small actions which make a huge difference to children and parents and through this approach we endeavour to not miss any opportunity for a marginal gain in attainment. Our core drivers are:
Communication: we work hard to ensure each and every interaction counts and makes a difference
Inclusion: we are all different and at different points in a child journey they need us to support them intensively. This is core focus for all.
Environment: We wish our school to shine and to display the high quality work our children achieve. We also work hard to gain additional grants and income to continually improvements in our environment.
Community: Liversedge is our home and we reach out to young community members working with our feeder settings and we treasure and support our elderly community by visiting and singing with them.
Aspiration: We want the very best for all and this golden thread permeates all we do. We believe in ourselves and ensure this Growth Mindset drives our pupils and parents to beat the challenges which will and do present. We prioritise effort and every Friday our celebration assembly praises hard work.
Our values are the core British Values of
- Rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
In addition we value Fairness, Truth, Honesty, Equality, Determination, Belonging, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity and Compassion.
These are all layered into our Littletown curriculum. Our curriculum is detailed and precise as with mixed age classes we must be bespoke in our approach. For our staff we ensure they have a shared understanding of our expectations in terms of teaching, attainment, progression and assessment and we work as one, towards common goals. Our Investors in People Gold award shows that we are driven to achieve together.
We wish our teaching to be creative and teachers have the flexibility and autonomy but this is with a clear focus on good outcomes for all. Our teaching fosters a love for learning for all with planning which works backwards from the point at which each pupil should reach at the end of the academic year. We set high expectations for all tackling misconceptions as they arise.
We focus on the unique child and their voice and experience drives us forward.
