Littletown Junior Infant & Nursery School

Welcome to Littletown Junior, Infants Nursery website.

At Littletown we enjoy school life, we work hard to achieve our targets in class. We also like to explore our environment both within school, in the local community and further afield in the juniors when the children go on residential visits to various outdoor centres.

Littletown is a very happy school with a very caring team of staff who value the children as very important members of the school community. I am very proud to be headteacher here. We have a school council, two members from each class are voted onto the council by their class mates, they meet weekly with Mrs Cunha to discuss any issues raised by children in their classes. Previously the council have carried out questionnaires about bullying, healthy eating and playground games to mention but a few.

We value sport and fitness at Littletown and have many clubs running throughout the year ranging from table tennis, cricket, football, orienteering, gymnastics and dance. We do feel the children at Littletown are becoming fitter and healthier since our health life style campaign began in October 2005.

Learning in school is obviously the most important part of school life next to being happy and healthy. We want every child in school to achieve as high a level as they are capable of. We do this in school by ensuring all children work in a small group with an adult for some sessions each week where each child in the group can be pushed forward in their learning in Numeracy and Literacy. We have some very clever children in school and some very gifted children who show a real flare for Art or Sport or Computer Studies. We cater for these children by running an enrichment afternoon on a Wednesday where they can really enjoy their subject and take advantage of learning new skills in the subject to extend their talents.

Parents and Governors are very important in our school community and are always welcome in school. Each governor has adopted a class and work hard to get to know the class by visiting or receiving letters from the children. Parents come into school three times each year to look at their child`s work and to discuss their child`s learning with the class teacher or headteacher or both. We love parents or grandparents to come into school to help children with their learning.

Take a trip around our website, it is quite new but it will grow!
