SAT's Week 2010

W/C May 10th

In class 6 our main aim is to develop a sense of responsibility for ourselves and our learning and it is our job to act as positive role models to the younger pupils of the school. You may see us selling fruit at break times, carrying out our jobs as buddies (to make sure that the playground is a happy place to be), collecting registers and preparing for assemblies.

We are all trained to be young leaders within school and we are excellent at it. Miss Armitage (our class teacher) is very proud of us and our achievements!

Bartman

In R.E. we looked at the work of Kandinsky who created pictures using 2D shapes and lines.  Then we listened to two different pieces of music and used them to inspire us in our own art work. Initially we sketched our pictures then we carefully transfered our ideas onto canvas.

The display on the right shows some of the final pieces of work.

The first two pictures below are examples taken from our sketch books, whilst the second two are close ups of actual canvases

Literacy has included writing our own exciting adventure stories, we worked in pairs and produced some fantastic work which we turned into booklets.  The hero of our stories was a dwarf called Blodden who, against all odds, saved the day!

Boggle Hole fundraising

Class 6 is combining its yearly school trip to study wildlife and habitats with the leaving celebrations by visiting Boggle Hole on the East coast.  The residential itself is not too expensive HOWEVER the cost of the bus is a staggering £700!  Therefore we decided as a class to fundraise, some of us have raised money out of school and we have all taken part in a fundraising day in school to raise funds towards the cost of the bus.

So far we have raised over £350 and school is also making a contribution.  We have not finished with the fundraising but here is a glimpse of some of the different activities which took place on April 29th...  Oh and we had a non uniform day to ourselves - of course we had to pay for the privilege!

How many sweets in the jar?   There was more than 200!

A long wait for the penalty shoot out!

Some people scored agains the Year 6 's YES!

Everyone took part, including our wonderful dinner ladies

Go on you can do it!

Mouthwatering buns, flapjack, muffins and rocky road - you name it we sold it!

Just delicious!

  More jummy treats mmm...

T.E.A.M

We work very hard in class 6 in achieving our goals. We like to work as a team and try our best to help each other as much as we can.

We sometimes spend time working in pairs and in groups.

We assess some of each others work and give each other friendly advice on how to improve.

We have circle time to discuss any problems that we may be having. We are open and honest about our opinionsand try to support each other as much as we can.

We are very lucky to have lots of staff working as part of our team:  Miss Armitage (class teacher), Mrs Keqa (HLTA), Mrs Fenton (Head Teacher)and Mrs Cole (SNA), all work with us in groups and individually throughout the week.

What the children think!
